                    Teaching and Learning Festival at Faculty of Education

The opening and welcome was done by the Dean, Prof Chika Sehoole, Dean.

Ms Marj Brown spoke on ‘ Inspiring youth through critical thinking and individual choices in History’. She is from Roedean School in Johannesburg and is the Global Teacher Award Top Ten Finalist.

Dr Yolandi Woest spoke on: “Ma’am, it shouldn’t be too easy!”: First year students setting their own tests. Mr JFG Eijssink made a presentation on ‘Using technology in the classroom. Practical tips and tools.

The music students entertained with ‘Hear, see, do create.’

Dr Alfred du Plessis spoke in ‘A mentorship intervention for professional identity development in the PRO 400 module.’

‘Quality early childhood care and education – a collaborative move for quality Education’ was addressed by Dr Keshni Bipath; Prof Ina  Joubert and Ms Mashuda Ebrahim.

Ms Cherese Jones from Sport Science used students outside for 'a time to play.'

There was also a presentation on ‘Developing the linguistic proficiency of pre-service teachers who use English as a medium of instruction’ by Prof Rinelle Evans. 

From the Unit for Distance Education, Dr Tony Mays; Dr Ruth Aluko and Mr Hendri Kruger discussed ‘Redesigning distance education provision at UP UDE.’  

Many staff and students had the opportunity to make a presentations.

Exhibitions from different departments were expressive and meaningful.

What a highlight for the Faculty of Education!
