Regional General Equilibrium Modelling Course hosted at University of Pretoria

Posted on November 22, 2017

During the week of 18 to 22 September 2017, the Department of Economics in UP’s Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences hosted a Regional General Equilibrium Modelling training course in collaboration with colleagues from the Centre of Policy Studies in Melbourne, Australia.

The training course was tailored to delegates from the Gauteng Provincial Government’s Treasury and Economic Development departments as part of a broader project for the Provincial Government, in which a state-of-the-art economic model suitable for detailed policy analysis is being developed. The project will now enter into its second phase, during which further model development will occur, culminating with an advanced training course to be held in March 2018.

The Department of Economics values its longstanding working relationship with both the Centre of Policy Studies and Gauteng Provincial Government and looks forward to continued engagement with local policymakers using the modelling tools developed in this project.
