FEATURING: The Bushmen of Southern Africa: the slaughter of the innocent by Sandy Gall

Posted on February 06, 2018

The Special Collections unit of the Department of Library Services would like to introduce you to our new Book of the Week feature.

The Bushmen of Southern Africa: the slaughter of the innocent by Sandy Gall.

This week's Book of the Week is an intense study of the Bushmen, their origin and their difficult lives. Much has been written about the Bushmen but this is the first time that anyone has attempted to trace their tragic history from the start to the present day, to bring it however inadequately under one cover. It is a story of genocide which started centuries ago, and reached a climax in the 18th, 19th and early 20th century. The word Bosjesmans was derogatory at first but it stuck with them and became the "Bushmen" we know in English.
