  • VENUE

Amphitheatre, Hatfield Campus, University of Pretoria

We would like to invite you to take a first-hand look at the tough but wonderful world of electrical, electronic and computer engineering by joining us for our annual Robot Car Race Day. This event is both an academic exercise and a fun-filled opportunity for our third-year engineering students to show off their skills. It is not surprising that their talents are sought after in every populated part the galaxy!

What is the difference between an engineer and a superhero? Both have superpowers, but while the powers of superheroes are fictional, those of engineers are real and have the ability to change our everyday world in astonishing ways. This becomes very clear when we look at the amazing contributions made by engineers, such as the international space station, the internet, robotic surgery and your super-awesome fitness apparatus!

Teachers, learners and parents are invited to join us between 14:00 and 15:00 on the day of the race for a guided tour of our facilities, a briefing on the technical details of the robot cars and an introduction to our innovative teaching and learning strategies.

The programmes offered by the School of Engineering are internationally accredited and the teaching and learning experience is on a par with the best in the world.
