2004 -  Mwana Africa Holdings Bindura Nickel Corporation, Zimbabwe

Corporate Affairs Director

  • Responsible for all company corporate affairs including communications and good governance.  This is a new role since the company was sold off by Anglo American Corporation.

2001 - 2003 Anglo American Corporation Bindura Nickel Corporation, Zimbabwe

Mining Operations Director

  • Responsible for all mining operations within the Bindura Nickel Corporation Group including the Safety and Health of all company employees and associated contractors.  The Company currently operates two mines located near Bindura and Shangani in Zimbabwe.

  • Responsible for mining strategy (medium and long term planning - basically life of mine planning) and developing mining manpower plans.

  • Responsible for Environmental Management

1998 - 2000 Anglo American Corporation Bindura Nickel Corporation Shangani Mine, Zimbabwe

Mine Manager - South

  • Overally responsible for Shangani and Epoch Mines with a combined total labour force of 1500 employees.

  • In 1999 achieved target nickel in concentrates produced for the first time in ten years.

  • Improved safety performance from 3.14 to 0.82 ltifr.

  • Industrial relations improved significantly at Shangani Mine.

1996 - 1997 Anglo American Corporation Bindura Nickel Corporation  Epoch Mine, Zimbabwe

Mine Manager

  • Responsible for all mining operations at Epoch Mine.

  • Achieved target unit costs and nickel in concentrates produced in 1997.  Of the four mines falling under Bindura Nickel Corporation, Epoch Mine was the only operation that achieved its target.

  • Mine safety improved from an average of 2 fatalities a year to nil.

1992 - 1995 Mhangura Copper Mines Mhangura, Zimbabwe

Mine Manager

  • Responsible for all mining operations at Mhangura Copper Mines which was owned by Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation (a government parastatal).

  • Managed to keep the mine operating against a background of serious cashflow problems.

  • Industrial relations were much improved throughout this period.

1987 - 1991 Mhangura Copper Mines Mhangura, Zimbabwe

Underground Manager/Projects Manager/Manager Mining

  • As underground manager I was responsible for 6 mine captains at Miriam Shaft producing about 115 000t of ore per month.

  • As Projects Manager I was able to extend the life of Norah Shaft by two years.

  • As Manager Mining I was responsible for all mining operations of both Miriam and Norah Shafts.
