Ina Fourie joined the Department in July 2001. Previously she was a
senior lecturer at the University of South Africa (Unisa) where she taught
various aspects of information organization and retrieval. She started her
career as a librarian at the Atomic Energy Corporation of South Africa.
She is currently coordinator of the B.IS (Library Science) courses, and
she is also involved with the Information Science modules on Information
Retrieval (INL211 and INL212), as well as the Honours paper in Information
Organisation and Retrieval.
Apart from a number of national associations, Prof Fourie is a member
of the Institute of Information Scientists, American Society for
Information Science and Technology and the UK Online User Group. She is
also a regular book reviewer for The Electronic Library and
Online & CD-ROM Review, and occasionally for other journals
such as Journal of the American Society for Information Science and
Technology. She has published journal articles, and delivered
conference papers and workshops on national as well as international level
within the field of information organization and retrieval as well as the
teaching related issues.
