Prof Hannes Britz joined the Department in 1989. He completed his doctoral thesis on information ethics in 1996 and is currently involved in a research project on information poverty in South Africa. He has also published substantially on the topic of information ethics. Apart from information ethics, he also teaches the marketing of information products and services as well as information and development. He serves on various national and international professional committees. He is currently visiting professor at the School of Information Studies, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the USA.
