From the Editor . . .
| The end of the century also signifies the end of the publication
of the Journal of Family Ecology and Consumer Sciences in its present format.
From 2000 the Journal will be published on the Internet. Only research
and review articles will be published in the Journal.
The research and review articles that were published in volumes
26 and 27 was placed on the Internet at the beginning of 2000. Starting
with volume 28, articles will be published as they become ready for publication.
The volume will be closed at the end of the year. This has the advantage
of making information quickly available to readers of the Journal. It holds certain advantages for authors of which the most
important is that articles will now be made available to a much wider reading
public. This would naturally contribute to the wider dissemination of research
and academic work in the fields of family ecology and consumer sciences in
the Republic of South Africa.
The information will be available free of charge for readers and
subscribers who have access to the Internet. Readers of the Journal who
would like a hard copy may obtain a photocopied computer printout at cost
at the end of the year when the volume is closed. Authors are
encouraged to take note of pertinent changes in the guidelines for authors
which are available on this site.
The future holds promise at the beginning of an interesting new
era for the Journal of Family Ecology and Consumer Sciences!
